I found a workable solution.

1. Make 4 Bar Repeat.

2. Create a Staff Style that Hides Repeats

3. Create Text Expression using 4 Bar Repeat Symbol Jazz 24 Plain, Centered Vertically

4. Optional Save Text Expression as library to use in the future.

You should delete the old blog post, and do a new one using this method, or fix this bug.

… When you press print, or Space Systems evenly the 4 Bar Rest reverts to the original settings.
I tested this on both v27 and v26 and the same thing happens …

The culprit is a document specific setting (not a program specific setting):

Document menu > Document Options > Multimeasure Rests

De-select the option

Update Automatically

Anyway, you can probably safely de-select the option {Update Automatically} in your templates - since you will seldom need the option (if ever).

What the option {Update Automatically} does:

When you are using Scroll View to enter music (= what many Finale users do), the option {Update Automatically} will break a multimeasure rest as you enter music into the multimeasure rest.

At the same time {Update Automatically} will reset all measures to the default settings (which is what was causing your problem).
