I'm using Finale v. 26.3.1.643 on a Mac running Catalina v. 10.15.7. Until recently, I was able to log into Finale, open a .musx file, and export it as music XML using the dropdown menu: File -> Export -> MusicXML...

In the last week, when I try this procedure, nothing happens. The MusicXML command is _not_ grayed out.

Perhaps related (?), every time I run Finale now, I have to enter my serial number to re-authorize my version.

I tried deleting the Finale preference files in 2 ways (using the Preferences menu from Finale and deleting them from the Mac Preferences folder), but that didn't solve the problem.

I’m going to make three suggestions. I would try them in this order:

You may have corrupted pathways. To rebuild them, shut down and boot into Safe Mode by holding the Shift key. Log into your User account when prompted. When your desktop icons have rebuilt, shut down and boot normally. Finale may prompt you to renter your license info. See what happens.

Go to your MM User Account. Click on Finale 26 and then Manage Authorizations. Go ahead and clear them. Reboot your Mac, start Finale and renter the key code info again. Shut down and reboot. See if it behaves now. If it doesn’t, go back into your account and see if the Authorization now appears. Support will want to know this if you have to send this to them on Monday.

If this doesn’t do it, try removing, downloading and reinstalling Finale. Support will often recommend this but you will not be able to reach them till Monday. Here’s the link for complete removal:

The third suggestion (reinstallation) worked. Thanks!

Great news!

For some reason, after installation, Finale can point to libraries from older versions. 26 seemed to be more likely than other versions—I had it happen to me, too. A complete Remove/Install cleans house, so to speak.
