Windows 10 Home ver.1909 Build 18363.1256  Finale ver. 26.3.1.520

I'm using Finale play my scores through a network of hardware audio devices.

I created a custom text expression category to house MIDI messages for sending program/patch changes and controller changes from the score to the hardware during playback.

A new score frequently requires a new MIDI text expression, and this is really no problem to accomplish.

However, when I go back to an earlier work in progress, the more recent expressions I've created aren't available in this document's library.

Any suggestions on how to streamline the updating of a custom text expression category across multiple score documents?

I would create and save an expression library of only the “custom text expressions”.

You can load your new library into the older documents - it just takes a few clicks:

File menu > Load Library…

 

Your “custom text expression category” will be saved in the library.

When you have loaded the library, the category and its expressions will show up in the document.
