Hello all,

I'm using Finale 26.3 on Windows 10. I've noticed ever since using graphics in v.2012 that if you put a Graphic on a blank first page, such as a composer's photo, it will periodically disappear and reappear when you scroll around. That bug still exists in the current version, though I'm not always able to reproduce it (it happens about 80% of the time). If you encounter this bug, here's how to fix it. Right click on the graphic (when you can see it), go to "Graphics Attributes" and where it says "Page: Single Page" change that to "Page Range" and select "1 through 1". You may also have to switch the Vertical Alignment and Positioning to "Center" rather than being attached to the header. Magic!

The "reasoning" behind the bug: When you insert a graphic it might accidentally be attached to the wrong page, or to the header. The header is by default blank on the first page, which would "confuse" the programming as to whether the graphic should be visible or not. If you select "Page: Single Page" the graphic might think it's on the 2nd page even though it's on the 1st! That's why you need to check "1 through 1" even though in our human minds it's equivalent.

That's my contribution to how to deal with Finale bugs. :)

Oh God.... THANKS!

I have search for a solution for this problem for YEARS, and now you've solved it. I'm producing lots of sheet music with only one page, and with graphics scattered around the page. As soon as I watch less than 100% of the page (with some zoom) and scroll around, the graphics comes and goes. This has always been soo irritating. Thanks again for the solution.

One thing though. When I make the suggested settings, the graphics seem to change in size unproportionally. Not much, but noticeable. Any suggestions?

Chris,

I'm glad my comment was able to help someone! I figured I wasn't the only one encountering this bug.

I'm not sure why your graphics are changing in size unproportionally. You may need to check the box for "Fixed Percent" in the settings for the graphic. I also recommend deleting the graphic and reloading it, because sometimes Finale carries over bad presets from previous versions (i.e. if you made your Graphics in Finale 2012, then upgraded, then the graphics will still be using all of the bugs from the 2012 version). Hope that helps!
