This has happened with 2 files.

I set it up to playback in a Zoom meeting, and everything goes fine.

After the meeting, I restore the Audio to Built-in Output, and...crickets. The file is playing back, but there is no sound at all. And it never, ever comes back for the file, though it works with other files.

I've restarted Finale, rebooted the computer - nothing.

What is going on? Finale just completely tanked a rehearsal set for Thursday, April 15. Is there some other step I should take?

I fixed this in a weird way. In Audio Setup, I changed the buffer size, and the sound came back. Makes no sense to me.

It happened again last night, on different files. This time, changing the buffer size had no effect at all - there is no playback sound.

How is this happening? It's wrecking my use of Finale for choir rehearsals. Does Sibelius handle Zoom any better?

I was surprised that changing the buffer size had any effect. The issue is probably the Zoom Audio Driver. It used to only work at 48kHz but I understand that has changed.

I no longer try to use Finale, Digital Performer or any 3rd party app in my Zoom choir rehearsals. Instead, I pre-record and use the System audio (Computer Audio as Zoom calls it). One of the reasons is that Zoom updates often change something or cripple it temporarily — and you never know what that's going to be.

Since I am fortunate enough to be married to one of the keyboard accompanists that I use, she is in the room where it happens and I route her audio into my iMac Pro as I conduct. Zero latency and 100% reliability.

 

It took us awhile to figure out what always, consistently works. It's not Zoom.
