Windows 10, Finale 27

Something weird has come upon me using NotePerformer--which I am enjoying increasingly.

I opened a three-old file (created v26, I'm sure) that was voiced for choirs with Garritan PO5 and tried to change the "instrumentation" to NP's choral voices.

NP has been my Sound Map Priority, and looked fine after I "Reassign Playback Sounds" but the play back was brass instruments.

So, I when to VST Banks & Effects and clicked on the "pencil" to edit the NP sounds.

However, when I did, I got the popup message instructing how to change the Sound Map Priority, and reassign playback.

Well, I already had, but I did it again, anyway, but I continue to get the popup and cannot edit the NP mixer.

Curious, I created a new file with the same staffing, and copied and pasted the music from the old into the new, and assigned the new with the NP choir voices, and all worked fine.

For some reason, the older file would not allow the change to NP, AND played back with the brass.

I experimented with other older files, but did not have the problem--so far.

Any ideas?

Thank you!
:-)

Sounds like another one of those things like my JW Part Copy Layout SNAFU. However, I would suggest you ask the NP4 people. This is really in their purview.

You can always send it to me but I can't guarantee I can make any sense of it either. But I will try.

I ran into this last week.

NotePerformer wants you to select the correct voices in Finale first. Use the Change Instruments menu to do this. After you Reassign Playback Sounds, you must hit Play in playback. This brings up the NP window letting you reassign those instruments.

Hi Mike and Ernie,

I thought I had replied earlier, but apparently not.

However...

Mike: that didn't work, so I followed Ernie's advice--which I should have done first--and contacted NP.

As expected, Alexander shot me a bulls-eye:

Please ensure that “Send Patches to MIDI Device on Playback" is selected: https://noteperformer.com/?page=support_finale#3485933993
And also, double-check that the correct instrument is selected in the instrument column in the ScoreManager: https://noteperformer.com/?page=support_finale#3431056623
I hope this helps.

Somehow I inadvertently unchecked the "Send Patches to MIDI..." box.

Don't know how, but that fixed the "problem."
Thank you, again, for your responses.

:-)
