Not really a problem.  More of a curiosity.

When assigning an expression with a metatool (one that's previously been programmed and bound to a key, not a new one), why on earth does it take two "undo" commands to actually undo it?

The first one is always "Undo Edit Expression Metatool" -- wait, did I just edit the tool?

The second one is always "Undo Expression Assign" -- wasn't that really the only thing I just did?

What expression was it?

Was it perhaps a shape expression?

If you enter a shape expression via metatool, then Finale will automatically duplicate it.

This means that you can edit the shape, without affecting other instances of the expression.

If - On The Other Hand - you need the option of entering a shape expression several places in the score, and then edit the shape to change all the instances in the score “at one fell swoop”, then enter the shape expression manually, not via metatool.

Nah, it's just simple stuff like dynamics.  And, it's not actually making a copy of the expression.  This is just how the "undo" process works I guess.

Incidentally, I just tested it right now by click-assigning 5 dynamics in a row with Metatools, then looked at the "Undo/Redo list."  They were 5 different dynamics.  Out of the five click operations, only the first one (oldest item in the list) had the extra step attached, and actually using the Undo function did this:

- removed a dynamic

- removed a dynamic

- removed a dynamic

- removed a dynamic

- nothing (the "extra step")

- removed a dynamic (the first one)

Weird.
