Windows 10, Finale 27 (up to date), Kontakt 6.

In Finale's score manager Window I can set the device to Kontakt and the interface comes up. When I choose to edit player, another copy of Kontakt comes up. I can select the instrument there, but it does not show up in the score manager and there is no sound from that instrument in Finale's playback. I am really at a loss as to what to do.

Try going to MIDI/Audio > Device Setup and selecting Rescan for AU Plug-Ins VST Plug ins (oops)

. Did you install in the default locations? Do you have the latest update to Knotakt 6?

Dear Ernest, thank you for responding. Rescanning for VST plugins did not make any difference. Finale finds Kontakt. I a not sure how to check whether my version of Kontakt is the latest but I'll check on that thank you.

Rescan for AU Plug-Ins

The OP is running Windows, not a Mac.

Finale finds Kontakt. I a not sure how to check whether my version of Kontakt is the latest but I'll check on that thank you.

The latest version of Kontakt is 7. VST 2 support has been dropped and VST3 is not supported in Finale so you do not want to be calling K7 in Windows. Kontakt 6 normally shows up as Kontakt while Kontakt 5 and Kontakt 7 include the numbers. Make sure you are trying to load VST2 (will show up as VST) and not VST3 since they will not work.

My recommendation is to reboot first. See if you still have a problem. Next, run Native Access to make sure you have the latest update of K6. Reboot again if NA has updated your library. If still no luck, re-download and Reinstall both Finale and the Aria Player, then reboot again.

Make sure that you are following the instructions in the Finale User Guide for loading and playing back VST libraries.

If still having an issue, use the Submit a request link at the top of the page to send this to Support. Please let us know what happens.

Since you posted in the Feature Request board that you weren’t aware that Finale does not support VST3, I will assume that this is solved—even if you don’t like the solution, yes? Again, unlike K7, Kontakt 6 still supports VST (VST2).
