The problems you describe seem a little unusual to me. I've never seen rehearsal marks or measure regions disappear on reopening a file. It may be a stupid question, but have you saved the file before closing it?

I'd suggest you try one of the free JW plugins to set up the measure regions - JW Measure Numbers. You can download it here:

Simply highlight the first movement and run the plugin. Proceed to the next movement and repeat, etc. It might be a good idea to delete all of the existing regions before using the plugin.

So far as the rehearsal letters, it shouldn't be necessary to use a different one for each movement. Just use the predefined rehearsal mark for the entire file. As long as the measure regions are set up correctly, the lettering will start at "A" at the start of each movement.

Perhaps there is something else at play causing the difficulty, but I use the above procedure and have never had problems.

Yes, the files are saved. The one I am currently working on displayed the problems I outlined so I opened an older piece to check settings and discovered that the regions and rehearsal letters had been altered.It seems to be specific to the version I have on my desktop as my laptop copy is fine. 

I didn't realise the rehearsal letter sequence was guided by the measure regions so thanks for the tip.

I'll check the plugins.

I have just found that there is an update to 2014.5 so I'll get that to see if it overrides whatever problems have developed.

Solved the measure region problem; I needed to click in the style box, although it was already showing the numerical system I wanted. This resets the 'Display as" numbers.

Hasn't solved the rehearsal letter dilemma though.

It might be nice to see the actual Finale file. This forum doesn't have the ability to attach files, so you'd have to use Dropbox or another file sharing service. Just copy the file and erase all of the music as this is not a notation issue, per se.

Just be aware that Jari is still adapting his plug-in's to work with the new 64-bit Finale 25. SO do not trash your 2014.5 until you know you don't need the old 32-bit plug-in's (or until they have all been updated to 64-bit).

I had the same problem, using the most recent version (25) of Finale.

I was using copies of the original rehearsal letter set to apply to each movement (3). Every time I reopened the files, the third movement continued the letter sequence from the second movement.

I solved the problem by creating a new rehearsal letter set in the Rehearsal Marking dialogue box and applying the new set to the third movement.

I think Keith Davis has the solution.

I found much the same thing. Each of the first 3 movements reset the lettering back to A as you'd expect. Things go wrong in the 4th movement. As Keith suggests, duplicate the last rehearsal mark in the selection box and use that for the letters in the 4th movement. Make another duplicate for the 5th movement.

This seems like a bug to me.
