Hello,

I have encountered a problem with GPO 5 in finale. When using any of the new Garritan Orchestral Strings, solo KS instruments, the dynamics do not work when they are on Pizz.

Dynamics do work when they are on arco. but as soon as I switch to pizz. dynamics stop working and finale  plays it with the last dynamic level when the instrument was on arco.

Any suggestions how I can solve this problem? I tried it both on finale 2011 and 2014.5. The new strings sound much better than the old set from GOP4 but it's a pity that dynamics don't work when changing articulation.

Btw, I don't have this problem with any of the other categories of instruments, even the old string set from GPO 4.

Hint:  Pizz uses velocity while sustained strings use CC1.

Sorry I'm not able to offer more details on how to go into Finale and adjust things right now.  I do know you could use the MIDI tool to individually adjust the velocity for each pizz note, and it seems like you might can tweak some things in your Human Playback settings so that GOS Strings will get 'both velocity and CC1' dynamics auto interpreted as well.

A new discovery....

If you're using the newer Garritan Orchestral Strings (GOS) pizzcatos (be they in the key switched variants or stand alone), you can change the velocity tracking scale using CC12.  If you set it to 0, then pizzicato plays at full volume relative to CC1 (mod wheel, or CC11 Expression volume) and CC7.  If you were to max out CC12 to 127, then it gets a one to one ratio with key velocity, and that is also relative to your CC1 or CC11 and CC7 settings.

If you wanted to fully negate the process of using velocity to control the volume of GOS pizzicato you could set CC12 at 0 and instruct Finale to use CC1.

I'll have a closer look at how it's set up in Finale, but I suspect the Human Playback settings need some debugging.

Yeah, I've been pulling some hair out over this one in attempting to make a Sibelius soundset as well.
