I have the harp playing an arpeggio and tying all the notes played over to the next bar. The notes in the next bar are being articulated rather than just ringing. In the attachment, the 1st 2 bars I created just for this forum, and the 2nd 2 bars are copied from my piece. Any help getting the 2nd 2 bars to behave like the 1st 2 would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have a sample of this ready, but I don't see how to attach it with the new forum format. How?

Hi Charles

To get a file to the forum, you will need to upload it to a file sharing service such as dropbox or google drive (you can create a free account) then post a link to the file here.

Hi Charles

I take it that you're talking about the glissand in the 3rd and 4th measures?

The first glissand (measures 1 & 2) play fine on my system, but the second (measures 3 & 4) behave the way that you describe.

If you change the fourth note in the third measure (last note before the dotted half) from an 1/8th to a 1/16th, it plays just fine.

The other thing you can try is to notate the glissand with two measures containing tied whole notes then used the glissand smartshape on the first lot. That plays properly as well, although the glissand is quite a bit faster.

Cheers...

Duh...sorry about that. Thanks for catching it. I do want a slower glissando, which is why I wrote it out. Turns out my problem was a typo.

Charles, can you show a graphic of the measures in question? I think I might be able to help, but I do not use dropbox on this machine.

Adrian, Darrin caught my typo. I had spread a type of arpeggio over 4 16th notes, but typed one of the sixteenths as an eighth note, which was causing the problem on playback - 1/16 more than the 4 beats in the measure.
