In V25 I can´t find Save Preferences When Quitting Finale. Where can I find it? Mostly I don´t want Finale to save preferences. Do I have to do like in 2014.5 and lock the preference? To be honest I can´t even find any Preference for V25 in any library?????

Save Preferences is under the File menu but it doesn't work. Neither does selecting a Preference and hitting Apply.

This is a deal breaker for me using 25.

If the change was that you only use Save Preferences and otherwise Preferences will not be saved when quitting Finale is is alright. But as Mike pointed out  Save Preferences does´t work. Something is saved since moving palettes and changing the width of the file is saved but It will not remember the Default File etc. And I still can´t find the preference file in my system. Now it is the third version in a raw with a corrupt handling of preferences. And this one seem to be the worst. I am very sorry I paid immediately instead of testing it first because the only thing to do is to continue with 2014.5.

Ps. It´s almost impossible to log in here at the forum. It only loops around and why I suddenly was logged in is impossible to understand.

I have the same problem; although I save the changes in the Preferences, via File.... Save Preferences, the next time I start Finale 25 the changes are gone.... Brian K. did not understand my request and answered me to install the Finale fonts package.... (?)

I haven´t been able to make any comments since 22 days ago, because I haven´t been able to sign in to the community. I just found that I must accept cookies which I hate. SHAME ON YOU MAKEMUSIC.

I have done a lot of tests around the preference problem but have not been able to get it to work. To begin with I can´t make Finale 25 to open my default file. And there is a lot of things it will not save. And most important I can´t find a way to make V25 NOT save things. In 2014 & 2014,5 there it also was problems with preferences I could manage to save what I wanted and after that lock the Preference file but in V25 I can´t even find the preference file. If I move a window it will open at the new position  the next time I start so somewhere information are stored - except off course that I want a new window to open in 151%. Never happens.

I will contact make music as well but as it is now I will stick to 2014,5. I am sorry I did´t test before I paid. Lost money.

>To begin with I can´t make Finale 25 to open my default file<

Not clear on the problem.

If you try to open from within 25, will it do so or is the issue that, when you click on your default file, 25 does not open?

Does the file have the musx suffix visible?

It will not open as I start Finale and if I rewrite the preference it will disappear whatever I do. Command+New should open the default file I have chosen but it does´t. yes I have the suffix. All settings is the same as in 2014,5 that is working but V25 will not accept anything.

Mike,

Just a question. Have you found your Preference file in your system?

Sorry,

I answered a quote which was not ment for me...

Bjorn, there must be some hope for you, because on my iMac, I installed Finale 25 also, and on that machine it works fine, even with my own created default, saved on a different location.....

This is not a big issue the only new thing I found interesting was the 64 bit that is good than using some sound libraries as standalones. But it is bad that this issue never seem to be solved. 2014,5 works fine with some tweaking of the preference file.

I have now got answers from MakeMusic.

The problem with V25 not opening the Default File that I have chosen is a bug.

The possibility to not save the preferences when quitting is removed!!!! this is scandal. Unbelievable why they have done that. I have with some help from MM found the preference file and it still works locking the file.

Hi Bjorn,

I think I might have a solution: Save the original Maestro Font Default.musx in the original folder. Then, copy your own default to this folder and rename it to "Maestro Font Default.musx. Open Finale and have a look which default you can open.

It is not how it should be, but saves a lot of time and frustration. When the bug is fixed you can swap to your own way of setting the preference.

I mean: save the original default in a different folder to be able to put it back after the fix of the bug....

Good idea Hendrik!

Just tested it and it worked perfect. Now I only have to make a shortcut in QuicKeys so I quickly can toggle the preference file between lock and unlock. There are always solutions in the end.

Thanks Hendrik for the input.
