Finale 27.4... Windows 10

Revisiting an old problem: how to get Natural Harmonics to play back with the Articulation "o"--or by any other means.

The artificial harmonics do work with the TG Plugin.

Today, I am asking more specifically about NotePerformer.
Supposedly, Natural Harmonics are supposed to work using the NotePerformer instrumentation, but I have had not success, with any choices.

Have any of you experienced this, and perhaps have found a solution?

Thank you,
:-)

Vanessa I've not done it (not a guitar player) but in Human Playback if there is not an effect associated with either a circle or diamond, NP4 will not play it back. Have you checked there? Just a first thought.

Hi Ernie,

Thank you for your feedback.

Well, I use the Articulation for natural harmonics, and in HP I checked the box for harmonics, but all I get is a slight quality in tone (timbre)--sort of an airy sound as associated with natural harmonics, but the pitch remains the same.

Not sure what the issue is. For example, I have natural harmonics in the first violins in my most recent piece (uprising) and they play back fine in NotePerformer.

I'd show you an image, but this dumb forum won't allow me to upload images (.png, .jpeg, etc) even if well under 1 MB. I've tried everything and it won't do it. That's why I rarely post here, FWIW. The unofficial forum isn't as onerous...

It starts at 16 min, 54 sec into the work. I can't seem to attach Finale files here (again, this forum is physically challenged, and I say this as a board-certified physician) but there's a recording on Bandcamp as well as Spotify if that works for you. Here's a dropbox link to the file, and hopefully that helps.

In other words, NP4 (and NP3, since functionally it's the same thing) does play natural harmonics back correctly. See if there is something about the o mark I'm using in my score-maybe that's the solution? Let me know-thanks!

Hi all,

Well, this is a definite case of "silly me" -- also known as brain fog.

For some reason I was incorrectly notating the natural harmonic.

For some reason I am unable to insert an image. I have before...

But it shows placing the note at the desired pitch and placing the Articulation on that.
What I had been doing was placing the note on the open string with the Articulation, and expecting it to sound one octave higher.

(Hmmm. Odd that I am unable to insert an image.)

So sorry for the inconvenience!!
