How do I insert cues in the staff?  I want the cues to be smaller than the main notation.

In Finale 2012:

Select the notes you want to use as a cue. Then, go to Plug-ins -> Scoring and Arranging -> Add Cue Notes. Carefully read the options. It's easy to figure out and use. There's also the Smart Cues plug in. The user manual explains it pretty well.

You can also select the notes you want as cues, go to the utilities tab, scroll down to change and then select "note size". A box opens with a percent option. I always enter 70%. Hit enter and the notes change to cues.

Sorry, I didn't realize you asked about PrintMusic. My solution works in Finale. The cue option was not available in PrintMusic back when I used that. I don't know now, how or if it exists in PrintMusic.
