(Win 10, Finale 25)

This problem has plagued Finale since 2008, and now it's completely broken the program for me. After an installation of Finale 25, apparently the installer removes old versions of the MM fonts and replaces them with updated versions. Which is great, until I try running the program and opening a file. Upon opening, I get a font selection dialog box with the message:

Error selecting font "Maestro", using "Wingdings"

Maestro is installed, but only the "wide" version of it, which shows up as a weight in the selection menu. Selecting this does nothing, as Finale simply reverts back to Wingdings.

The original Maestro font is now missing entirely (as it broke my Fin 2014.5 installation, too!) and while a reinstall of the old font addressed the immediate issue, the old "error selecting font" problem is STILL plaguing Finale. Seriously. It's been 8 years, and the new fontpack installers do not include the original weight of Maestro in them anymore, apparently. The only reason I was able to rescue it is because I had an old 2014 installer on my hard drive and was able to get the old version of the font to reinstall.

This has gone from a mere annoyance to a major issue. Please fix this.

I am having the same issue with a text font.  A client wants me to use Veritas Roman.  The font show up in the listing but when I select it, I get Arial instead. Changing the fonts through Document> Data Check> Font Untilities explains: "error selcting font "Veritas AE", using "Arial"  Thanks, Finale!  How do I get it to work?

Somebody please help!  There are two posts in the community already asking this question, and neither have any replies!  How can I get Finale to use a font I have installed?

Can you get the font to appear in a Word document?

I am not a font expert, but I know that some programs do not support all the different font types (Postscript, TrueType, OpenType).

Thanks, Adrian.

• Veritas AE is installed in my Windows > Fonts folder, and the font shows up fine in Word and all my other software.

• In the Lyrics Edit dialog box, I Select All and Edit Font, as I have done a thousand times before with other fonts.  The font Veritas AE shows up in the listing but when I select it, I get Arial instead. No explanation.

• The explanation came when I changed fonts through Document> Data Check> Font Utilities. Under "Search for this font" I select the previous font, Palatino, and under "Replace with this Font", I select Veritas AE. I am told: "error selecting font "Veritas AE", using "Arial" instead.

Why would Finale show the option if it won't use the option?

When I reach an insoluble problem with Finale, I usually use the "Submit a request" link at the top of the page to contact Finale Support directly. IIRC you can even attach a copy of your file for their perusal. I don't know whether they have access to Veritas AE, but you can still see what they say.

Thanks, Adrian. Before I could, David Cusick from tech support reached out. He said, "you will need to type in the full name of the font with the typeface to actually select it." After some experimenting, I got it to work. Apparently this is a known bug?

Thought I should post it here in case anyone else runs into it. Type the full font name, y'all!
