I am trying to find how to insert capo versions of guitar chords along with the true chord. I installed Songwriter and couldn't find anything so I installed PrintMusic and I still can't find an option for capo chords. When I search it seems that it should be under utilities, but it's not there. Do I need a different version for this option? If so, what version do I need? Am I missing something? Thanks

I know this feature is available in the full version of Finale, but I don't know the other MakeMusic notation products all that well, so I searched for and found a comparison chart here:

http://www.makemusic.com/documents/2014/04/finale-2014-product-comparison-chart.pdf

What's incredible to me is that the word "capo" appears nowhere in this four-page PDF. Searching for the term "chord" turns up 25 results, but nothing about capo chords.

Wow. Somebody at MM should fix this document.

Sorry, Michael, to be of no help on your issue.

thanks, I finally downloaded the trial version of the full Finale and there it is.

I can't believe that:

a. they don't tell you anywhere what version offers this even after searching and searching. They have a utility to "add/remove capo chords" but anywhere you search on their site for the word capo you come up with nothing?

b. that this is only a feature in the full version which has tons of features that the average guitar playing songwriter would never use. Seriously, I'm supposed to spend an additional $150 to get one simple capo feature? I think I'll just use text.

c. they don't offer two directional capo conversion. If I write a song capo three in G I need to convert all my chords to Bb and enter them as such so that then the program can convert them all back to the correct capo 3 G chord.

d. there is nowhere that I can actually contact MakeMusic to ask a simple question. I have to go digging around in forums and tutorials that don't answer my simple question.

Thanks. I went through both of those options and on about the third page I end up on a page where one of the dozen boxes states,

"A valid serial number is required for Technical support."

and since I hadn't yet purchased the product I don't have a serial number. However I notice now that this box is not marked as "required" so perhaps I could have tried submitting my question without a serial number. In the mean time I seem to have found my answer the hard way.

Right, Michael. You don't have to have a serial number to ask a sales question.
