(Mac yosemite finale 2014.5) I knew how to do this in my old version (2009) but how do you delete staves from a section where they are not being used? I found a tool to completely delete a staff but want the staff to appear when there is content on it. Help?

Are you talking about the Staff Tool's Staff menu > "Hide Empty Staves" option?

I think you'll need to apply the staff style "Force Hide Staff (collapse)" to the sections of the music you want to hide. To do so, grab the Staff Tool, highlight the measures of the staff you want to hide and then right click (or control + click) and a select "Force Hide Staff (collapse)" which should be #13.

Hope that does what you're looking for!

I have found a glitch related to this, so I hope this helps someone else having my issue: occasionally (I can't figure out under what conditions), the "Hide Empty Staff" option will not work on the dropdown menu in Page View accessed from the staff handle itself, but if that staff is selected in Page View, the same function will work from the Staff Menu at the top of the window.

Finale 2014.5.7098, Mac OS X 10.10.5 (Yosemite)
