Windows, 27.4.1

ScoreMerger will not allow me to attach files (parts) to my score as a single document. The attached part has garbled measure numbers, and follow consecutively from the score (as do rehearsal numbers).  I've followed the steps in the Help Manual to no avail.  I publish a lot of arrangements through ArrangeMe to Sheet Music Plus.  Let me rephrase this: the "Keep each file's measure numbering" does not appear to be responding.  Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum!

If I understand you correctly, you have (many) individual Finale documents, as Score and Parts (probably created before Finale 2007 and Linked parts) - right?

In the Score document the measure numbers (and rehearsal marks) are correct (= follow consecutively) - right?

But in one of the {Part documents} the measure numbers are garbled - right?

The other {Part documents} have correct measure numbers and rehearsal marks (as in the Score document) - right?

And now you are trying to merge all the documents into one Finale document, with Score and Linked Parts (so that correcting a wrong note in the Score will automatically get updated in the Linked Part) - right?

As Far As I Know, you can use ScoreMerger to combine individual Part documents, to create a new Score document (with Linked Parts).

But this will be a new Score.

You can not merge an existing Score document with existing Part documents.

Quoting the manual:

“Finale's Score Merger allows you to combine several files into one. This can be done horizontally, with files appended after each other, such as different movements of a symphony or a collection of songs. Or, it can be done vertically, consolidating individual parts into a full conductors score.”

Douglas,

In addition to Peter's post, if you already have a score document in Finale 27, and possibly (I'm guessing) want to "merge" the formatting/layout from your individual part files into the Finale 27 linked parts - there is a plugin package that can do this. If you just want to create a new score with your individual part files only, ScoreMerger is the way to go. At that point you could still copy the page formatting and part layout with the plugin package below. I'm not sure if ScoreMerger retains part formatting and page layout options during the merging process.

One of the Patterson Plugins will copy most (if not all) part formatting from one Finale document to another. This plugin package does have a trial period (fully functional) and works well with Finale 27.4.1. Once downloaded and installed, restart Finale and they will appear in the Plugins menu.

I recommend starting with the "Copy Page Layout" item.  This plugin allows you to copy page layouts between separate files. The "Copy Page Layout..." plugin is in the "Miscellaneous" menu within the Patterson Plugin package. It has a few options for the copying, but is pretty obvious. Robert's website has instructions and purchase options as well.

The Finale bundled "Plugins --> JW Tools --> JW Copy Part Layout..." plugin does not allow copying between separate documents, only between parts within the same document.
