Here's a new one, at least to me. I downloaded an .mxl file from cpdl.org, edited it - which involved changing just about all the text fonts and lyrics fonts etc, but default music font is Finale Maestro 24 which should be fine, I thought.  It looks lovely on the screen. Saved as PDF, looks lovely on the screen. Print it out, and the most of the symbols are fine, but the music font is completely out of whack, printing out the notes heads a step too low and with weird, distended shapes not attached to the stems:

Of course, I have a deadline coming up.  There's probably an easy solution, but it eludes me. (Finale 27.4.1 OS 12.7.4)

Thanks in advance!

I believe I said Finale Maestro is the default: is that not SMulF?

In the end, it was a strangely simple fix: select the entire document, go to document options, select a font OTHER than Finale Maestro, then re-select Finale Maestro. Magic. But why?

Simom,

The first thing I would do is reinstall the Finale fonts. You can install just the fonts but a full reinstall isn't a bad idea. Also make sure you are using a third party PDF print utility like dpPDF or CutePDF, etc.

No, Ernie, he's on a Mac and his issue is resolved. He does not need to reinstall anything nor does he need a 3rd party pdf utility. From his signature:

I did not see where he said he used a Mac. I just automatically assume people use Windows since I do as well as 80% of everyone else.
