I am not. Just to be clear, your macOS should be this build in System Settings/General/Software Update.

Assuming this is correct, shut down your Mac. Since yours is Intel, boot holding the Shift key to enter Safe Mode (be patient, it may take awhile). This will set all of your System caches to default along with rebuilding your pathways. Once your desktop icons have finished rebuilding, shut down your Mac and then boot normally.

You're welcome. For those of us who go way, way back, this was once known as Rebuilding the Desktop and done the same way.

Apple Silicon Macs use a different procedure for Safe Boot and Apple has support docs on that.
