Finale 26, Mac High Sierra (10.13.6)

Whether I use the Score Manager or the Mixer, panning has no effect on playback. This is a simple 4 parts score, with each part a melody instrument. I pan one part hard left, the bottom part hard right, (or any other panning) and it still all sounds mono. I am listening back through headphones, which do play back other sound files stereo. Any help is appreciated! I've been using Finale since version 2 in 1990. Using Macs since 1985. Thanks.

SOLUTION: To get to the NotePerformer Mixer I went to MIDI/Audio - Audio Banks & Effects, clicked on the pencil to the right of the NotePerformer bank, then populated the Mixer by starting and quickly stopping playback. Then I could pan and it worked! Thanks.

Frank are you saying it did work but now it doesn't? If that's true something changed you need to find out what. A setting an updated app or perhaps an OS update, etc. You checked all the Finale sound settings?

Hi Ernest. I actually never tried panning before in Finale. What I meant by other sound files playing stereo correctly is that stereo does work with my headphones. The headphones are good. Sorry to be confusing. I use Note Performer 3. Finale 26.3.1 is the latest I can use on my old Mac, and High Sierra is the latest OS the computer will take. For panning in Finale, I used the Mixer and checked the settings in Score Manager. The finale document does play back, just not in stereo. I can send you the file in question, if you want . . . Thanks.

Have you tried setting the panning in the NotePerformer Mixer rather than in the Finale Mixer?

Hi J Adrian Verkouteren. I just tried that and it worked. That was the answer. To get to the NotePerformer Mixer I went to MIDI/Audio - Audio Banks & Effects, clicked on the pencil to the right of the NotePerformer bank, then populated the Mixer by starting and quickly stopping playback. Then I could pan and it worked! Thanks.
