I would love the ability to start up Finale without loading AU plug-ins. In Digital Performer this can be accomplished by holding down the shift key during start-up—DP then starts up in "MIDI only" mode. I never use AU plug-ins except for Garritan, and there are plenty of times I'd be happy to do without it. Is there a way to start up Finale without loading AU plug-ins (that doesn't involve moving or removing all the plug-ins in one's system)?

Not that I know of. Since it’s only an issue the first time an AU is verified, what’s the reason for this?

Fair question! Waves V15 verified fine in DP, but certain plug-ins failed in VEP7. With the extremely long time it takes to verify all those new plugs, it was impossible to know whether or not Finale was failing or simply taking a long time. Moot point now, of course...

Yes and no. If Finale comes up eventually, you should be good. Some plug-ins (Kontakt, for example) require a complete shut down and reboot to load properly for verification but I don't know about Waves. So once you are up, shut down, reboot and see how long Finale takes. I just timed my copy at 18 seconds with nearly a thousand AUs.

Update to this thread: I did a "Complete Waves cleanup," reinstalled Waves V15, and Finale is now opening fine. One note: I had to remove the Waves Scheps Omni Channel plug-in because it was failing in Vienna Ensemble Pro. It might be a problem for Finale as well, not sure. Anyway, case dismissed!

Thanks for letting us know.

You can edit the title of your original post and add RESOLVED to the title. This will help others in a Google Search. Since it involves Waves, you could add that, too if you like.

Thanks. I realize I said “case dismissed,” but then I realized that my question was whether or not it was possible to stop Finale from loading AU plug-ins—the answer to that is no, so I’m inclined to leave the thread titled as is.
