I cannot believe what Finale has done.
I understand some of their reasoning, but to drop this announcement on the thousands and thousands of Finale users with absolutely no warning is unconscionable.
I think a better way would have been to say, "We are closing our Finale store by the end of the year (or in three months, or whatever other reasonable amount of time). If you wish to purchase Finale 27, or if you need to move your Finale version to another computer and have it authorized, you may do so by the deadline."
I'm thinking, for instance, of a friend of mine who just retired from his church after 27 years. He always used Finale from his church account, but now would like to have it on his home computer. He would be one who would purchase a copy of Finale if such an offer were made.
I've been a Finale user since 1997. With all the publishers I work with (as an arranger and editor), Finale has been the standard for all these years. This is a real shock to the entire industry. I wish they could have conducted "The End of Finale" in a different way.
Sincerely,
David Winkler Austin, Texas
