Dear, good morning.

Despite the ending of Finale (I already moved to Dorico), I stil using Finale.
But my Finale is crashing when I try to use the Lyric Tools, specially with Type into Score and Clicking Assignment.
I contacted the Help Center, did their advisers but still not working.
I had unstalled Finale, reinstalled it, created new files, renamed it and still receiving "not responding" warnings when using lyric tools.
How can I solve this? For now, the Help Center doesn't helps and my work stopped..
Wainting some news about this.

Many thanks,
Luiz Goldberg

Is this happening in a new file, or only in the one you’re working on? If it’s just the one, try exporting it as an XML, and importing it back into Finale.

You can email me the file, and I’ll try it out. My address is in my signature, below.

Luiz,

You really need to tell us what Finale version you have and if it is not the latest you can d/l it from the website as a free part of the cosss grade option. Second you need to tell what OS and system you are  using.

If you are on a Mac, good luck, and I suggest you take advantage of MikeR ofer. If you are one a PC, I bet you have a font conflict or at least a conflict in that area. You might reinstall your fonts. You can try disabling your printer and the print spooler.

Finale works until it sees something it doesn't like or doesn't expect. This is what you need to find. Perhaps you did a OS upgrade in the meantime or added a new app, etc., but something changed form when it worked normally and now..

Mike, Ernest or Whoever: "Tip of the hat" to all of you, who help us go on our way! Thanks. Especially to Mike: I have a symphonic score entitled Brewer Hometown March, which was converted to a pdf. I also downloaded SmartScore 64 Pro some time back, but I have no idea how to work with SmartScore. I can covert the pdfs to tiffs, but no idea how to convert the finished score to something pristine like a musx score. So, the pages are skewed, the score lines are kind of blurry, etc. Unfortunately, when the score had been written in Finale, the original version of Finale became obsolete, so there's no way I can convert an old Finale to the Finale 27. So, I'm betwixt and between. Many thanks! -Ed

Ed, would you be open to a Zoom? I’ll be happy to walk you through working with SmartScore.
My email is in my signature. Just replace the AT and DOT with the regular things!

Thanks, Mike! This is great. But first, my wife has asked me to visit the grocery store. I attempt to Zoom you as soon as possible. Ed

Ed,

If you PDF original is not perfect or nearly so the scan and resulting XML for Finale will be almost useless. You need the cleanest original as you can possibly get for SS 64 to do its thing.

Thanks, EB. I have found an original photocopy of Brewer Hometown Band. And, perhaps I can get the original version from the conductor. We'll see! Thanks for the tip! (Alas, I no longer have my own version!)
