Whenever I try to save an exisitng file that I have updated or amended, I get an error message (no number on it) that says:" Error id moving file 's' to 's'. The system cannot find the path specified".

The only way I can save the file is by using save As and then overwriting the existing file.

Help - this is a pain in the proverbial.  How do I fix this please?

Using Windows 10 Home 64 Bit x64-based premiun.

Finale version 27.4.1.110

You have a path or permissions problem. Are saving your files to the Cloud?

Nope, I'm saving to my PC's hard drive, in a 'standard' folder for saving music.

This has only started with the latest version of Finale.  It used to be fine for every previous version I have had, including back with Print Music.

Good. You have a path issue. I haven’t worked Windows Support in years but I do remember path problems and permissions being about 95% of my job. Since I no longer own a Windows computer, it will be up to others to help you troubleshoot this. The current version of Finale still has tech support.

The standard recommendation is to reinstall Finale. Try it first and see if that changes anything.

Thanks for this, Mike.

I have actually found a help page within Make Music on the Finale section whch covers this precise issue and the first solution listed there worked for me; found it here: https://makemusic.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/23698065013015--Error-Id-moving-file-s-to-s-The-system-cannot-find-the-path-specified-when-saving-Win?input_string=error+message+when+saving+an+existing+file.

It will be a bit of a pain, because I will have to do it for every file that has this problem, but at least after doing ti, I don't have to use the work round of 'Save As' every time.

PS: sorry for delayed response but I've been away quite a bit recently so only just got the time to respond to you.

Thanks for getting back to us. That helps everyone.

Depending upon what worked, that is a path or permissions issue. Glad that MM posted the bulletin.
