Does anyone know if there any known issues with Mac OS Sequoia 15.4?

No. Finale runs fine. There are many threads on this.

Apple is having an issue with CoreAudio Class Compliant USB Interfaces over 15.4 so, if you a USB interface that doesn't require audio drivers, you may wish to hold off on updating until the next bug fix. There's another weird bug involving Font Book but I've not seeing it affect anything.

Hi Mike, thanks for your answer. I'm not sure what this means: "if you a USB interface that doesn't require audio drivers" I have a MacBook Pro, 2020, with four Thunderbolt 3 ports, and have a MOTU M4. But I don't know if this MOTU M4 is "a USB interface that doesn't require audio drivers". Any thoughts/suggestions? BTW - I am happily using Finale and plan to do so until it no longer works with Mac OS - at which time I might bring out an older Mac laptop that I bought from a friend, then installed and authorized Finale 27, and will never again connect it to the Internet. And of course, I'm slowly learning Dorico!

But I don't know if this MOTU M4 is "a USB interface that doesn't require audio drivers"

Good question. The MOTU M2/4/6 do not require drivers on a Mac unless you wish to enable Loopback—then they are required. According to MOTU, the RTL (round trip latency) is also lowered a little with the drivers installed—about the same as moving your ears 14" closer to your monitor speakers.

The issue is that the Mac might not see the interface when plugged in. The fix is to unplug and re-plug your M4, then check Audio MIDI Setup.app to see if it reappears. This is an old issue when connected through a hub but it's normally not when plugged in directly.

You’re welcome.

To be clear, this is a new Apple bug and has been reported by many hardware makers, all who say that they’re working with Apple. If you are having no issue with connecting your M4, then you aren’t affected. If so, I’d recommend installing the drivers and trying again. In my case, I have a number of Class Compliant (i.e. no drivers required on a Mac) interfaces from a number of makers including an M4 and I haven’t seen it.

Otherwise, the only issue I’ve had with Finale over 15.4 is that sometimes, it just won’t behave (twice over the last two days) doesn’t freeze but the command you are trying to run just won’t. Two days ago, I couldn’t bring up Expressions and yesterday trying to flip Stems resulted in them disappearing. ?!?!? The fix is always to Save, Quit and restart and Finale behaves again. This issue is nothing new, of course, so I don’t even report it to Support anymore.

The 15.4.1 update from yesterday appears to have fixed the USB problem.

What wizardry am I missing here- I just got a new computer with 15.4.1 installed and the first thing it says to me is "Finale is damaged" and gives me two choices: cancel or move to trash. What do I have to do to avoid this error?

I read elsewhere that someone made a virtual Mac in UTM running Sonoma, and I actually got that to work, but the problem there is that I can't share the usb midi keyboard connected, so I've now been doubly stumped. Any help with either? Preferably not having to run a Mac within a Mac would be great.
