I have a choral score in Eb and need to create a solo version of it using the melody from wherever it is the SATB lines but in the key of Bb to better fit the person's vocal range.  Is there a way to create a part from the score (so all the dynamics, articulations, lyrics, etc. are in it) in a different key?  I'm guessing it's not possible, save to extract the part from the score in Eb and then transpose it to Bb.  But that creates spacing problems and when I catch little mistakes, the fixes don't update in the score, of course.  This creates double work.  Does anyone know if it can be done and, if so, how?

If I understand you correctly, the issue here is layout, not playback - right?

 

You can change the key with a Staff Transposition (use the Staff Tool; apply a Staff Transposition staff style).

NB: the Staff Transposition will only change the layout; the playback key will not change.

 

If the Finale document does not already contain a saved staff style with the Transposition, create the staff style yourself.

Staff styles are document specific, not program specific.

You can save staff styles as a library which you can load into other Finale documents (look in the File menu).
