The Double-Ended Bracket Tool creates a straight line, but if there are brackets at either end, they are miniscule, and there appears no way to lengthen the brackets.

You are using Windows Finale - right?

 

Mac Finale has a window / dialog box called Smart Shape Options (Smart Shape menu > Smart Shape Options…).

The pane Settings has options for line thickness as well as hook length:

Sorry, I should have specified.   Windows 10 Finale 27.4.1.110 purchased along with the Dorico gross grade.  Dorico proved quite unwieldy to use.   Although recently, I did see a 100-minute "Finale to Dorico tutorial" which I'll dig into one of these days.   I'd father just stick with Finale, on which I have hundreds of files already completed.
