Dear Finale-user,

I would like to change the distance between letters in the root of the chords and the alterations. Thus in Bb7, I would like to change the distance between the B and b. And in C#7, I would like to change the distance between the C and the #.

Can this be done?

Thank you so much in advance.

Greetings from Holland.

You have found something that in Finale only can be done via a workaround, sorry!

Make sure you make a feature request.

The more users that request a feature, the higher priority the feature gets.

The workaround is to create a custom chord suffix that includes the alteration accidental.

Example:

For the chord symbol Bb7, set the root to B, and add the custom chord suffix b7.

In the Chord Suffix Editor you can set font and positioning for each and every character in the suffix.

I suppose that chord symbol playback is not an issue here.

Many users disable chord playback - since Finale’s chord playback does not consider voicing context.

The same chord symbol gets the same voicing everywhere, regardless of the context.

Dear Peter,

Thank you for your answer. I understand the workaround. I will do.
