ARGH! The blasted capo chords in the key of F major which capos to D major show the A7 chord as Gb7 chord instead of F#7. Despite numerous attempts to creatively misspell the A7 it still shows the capoed chord as Gb7.

I'm having a theory: I wonder if the key signature has something to do with the flats in the capo spelling? Perhaps Finale assumes that the key signature has a flat, that it follows that ALL the chords need to be flatted.

My guitarist (and myself) find it irritating that we have to hand edit the printed score.

I had Finale 2010 prior to 25 and it did not misspell the capoed chords. I have Windows 7.

Finale Gurus -- please figure this out........................ Respectfully, Diane

Diane Nestor,

This is a well known issue with Capo Chords.

You are right that it has something to do with the key signature.

… I had Finale 2010 prior to 25 and it did not misspell the capoed chord …

I could be wrong here, but I seem to recall that Finale 2010 had the very same problem with Capo Chords.

Anyway, here comes the solution:

1) Chord Tool.

Chord menu > Simplify Spelling (select this option)

2) Enter the A7 chord as G##7.

Simplify Spelling will make the capo chord display as F#7.

How about: Key F Major

Chord is  C/E

Capo is showing A/Db instead of A/C#

Chord is F/A

Capo is showing D/Gb instead of D/F#

… Key F Major

The solution is the same as in my previous post:

Enter the chord C/E as C/D##.

Simplify Spelling will make the capo chord display as C/E.

Enter the chord F/A as F/G##.

Simplify Spelling will make the capo chord display as F/A.
