Can't extract 2 stave group into 1 part!

First, I've been a Finale user since 1990 so I'm not new at this. Just upgraded to v25 (Mac) and I can not seem to get my divisi strings to extract as 1 part. I've never had this problem before. I have all 5 pairs of staves set as 5 groups. I've have done as I have always done (and according to the instructions to double-check) and gone through the full extract parts dialog boxes as always: Extract parts -> manage parts->new part-> select Violin 1-1 and Violin 1-2-> edit name to Violin 1 (repeat for V2, Vla, VC, Bass) then->generate parts->OK->(Extract parts box) OK and all I get are the individual single staff parts, no 2 stave groups!

Luckily I am not under a deadline (for once) but this is driving me crazy. Any suggections of where to look for what missed step? As I said, I'm extracting parts and groups as I have been doing for decades and suddenly, groups won't extract. So, what got changed that I am missing now?

1) First of all, Finale has had linked parts since Finale 2007.

Are you sure you need to extract parts?

Can’t you use linked parts instead?

2) You can view and edit a linked part here:

Document menu > Edit Part > …

Take a look at the linked parts, one by one.

Are there 2-staff parts among the linked parts?

If the answer is no, then you need to generate the 2-staff linked parts.

3) I suspect that the 2-staff parts do not show up in the dialog box Manage Parts (only the single staves show up), right?

If the answer is yes, try deleting the Full Staff name (change the Full Staff Name to nothing).

The staff group should show up in Manage Parts if both staves do not have a Full Staff Name.

You can add the Full Staff Name back via a staff style.

4) Instead of deleting the Full Staff name you can also - in Manage Parts - create a New Part, and add both staves to the new part.

But then you will have to create a new staff group in the part.

Ah, I found the problem!! (and do I feel dumb!) I was hitting "generate parts" AFTER I made the new parts combining 2 staves into 2 extracted part, which then got rid of the "new" parts I was defining. Can I blame old age?
