Finale 25, Windows 10

I wrote a few days ago with a playback/tempo related problem.  I've encountered a different problem in another score.  None of the tempo changes (rit, molto rit, accel. etc.) are played back by the MIDI.  I've gone through every tempo changed and manually checked what "shape" it is set to play.  I've deleted the MIDI date using the "clear selected items" function.  I've reassigned HP sounds.  What is going on?

Many thanks,

George

In Human Playback do you have "interpret tempo changes" checked?

FWIW, I don't ever use shapes to control tempo changes. I have an initial metronome marking, then if I have a ritard in ms.8 for instance, I put an expression "rit." in ms. 8. (from the tempo alteration category - with no playback effect assigned). Then in ms. 9 I put in a new metronome marking. Finale then ritards in ms. 8 and starts the new tempo in ms. 9.

If you try this using the default file as a test, you'll see it works quite easily.

What Jeffrey said. And remember, you can hide the expressions so they don’t clutter the score.

I'm using Finale 2014 on MacBook Pro 10.10.6.  When exporting sound the resulting tempo is the default 120 bpm and not the tempo I assigned with TEMPO MARKS on EXPRESSION TOOLS.

Are you sure that your assigned tempo mark has the playback tab set to use the tempo?

i’ve made that error, myself.

Yes the playback tab is set to the tempo I want. The music plays back in the right tempo, the problem occurs only when exporting sound.

This sounds unusual. How are you exporting the sound? Are you using the Export Audio option in the File menu?

Six years on, encountered this once again.  Rits and accels not playing back.  Why would something like this not happen automatically?  Which is the more normal situation, that one would NOT want these markings to be played back, or that would WANT them to be played back? Clearly it is the latter.  This should just automatically happen.

Why would something like this not happen automatically?

I would submit it does. It has never happened to me which is neither here nor there but it does point to something on your end.

I am sorry I have no suggestion except to make sure you have entered the rit or accel or whatever correctly and assigned it correctly. Did you fix it 6 years ago? I would be happy to look at your file if you want me to. Perhaps I can see something.

George,

What are your Human Playback (HP) settings?

Found it, I think.  I had not selected "incorporate data" under "tempo" in the human playback settings.  How on earth that got unselected I don't know.
