Finale version 25 ..........Windows 10........I've written an arrangement for big band. When I go "document .> edit parts" and go to  print out the tenor sax part it always shows an octave higher, yet in the transposed score it shows properly where it should sound in the bass clef.    ( a  ninth below written)   so it's essentially transposing a ninth plus an octave... ok .....so I can easily transpose the whole part down an octave in order to print it out but this shouldn't be... any advice????

I just tried this and did not see the problem you mentioned.

As a quick fix, you might try adding a new tenor sax part using the wizard (in score manager) and copying and dragging the notes form the old part to the new part to see if that solves the transposition problem. You can do this on a copy of the file if you want to be extra safe.

Presumably you are looking at both the score and sax part in transposed rather than concert pitch.

I suppose that the playback pitch is correct, both in the score, and in the linked tenor sax part, right?

My first guess would be that the culprit is a staff style.

Staff styles can be different between score and linked parts.

That is one of the strong sides about linked parts.

Try this:

Staff Tool.

Staff menu > Show Staff Styles (select!)

Staff menu > Show Staff Style Names (select!)

Now staff styles will show as a band above the staff.

If you look at the tenor sax staff, both in the score, and in the linked part, then you might notice a difference in the staff style band(s) above the staff.
