I have an etude that is for Oboe, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax & Bari Sax.

It is in the key of Bb for everyone, so when we play it together, it is not in unison - we are all reading the same notes, but the pitches are not the same.

I am trying to make a score for SmartMusic and export a musicxml file.

What I need is for them all to see the music in Bb, but for SmartMusic to hear them in their own key.

I have made individual files for each for now, but it would be much easier to create assignments in SmartMusic if I had a score that could do what I'm asking.  Currently, I am making an Oboe assignment for 1 student, an Alto Sax assignment for 5 students, a Tenor Sax assignment for 1 student and a Bari Sax assignment for 1 student.  I would love to make an assignment where they just select their instrument.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This sounds like you need to use Finale's independent key signature which is in the staff attributes for each staff. The score you put in Bb, so that takes care of the oboe.

If I'm understanding you correctly you want the alto sax to read a part which looks identical to the oboe part. If so, you would copy the oboe part to the alto staff, in staff attributes check independent key signature for the alto sax, then with the key signature tool you double click on the first measure of the alto part and give the alto a key signature of Db. Then when the alto's transposition is applied you'll have something which looks identical to the oboe part.

Apply the same concept to the other instruments. I know nothing about Smartmusic, so hopefully it'll read the Finale file correctly.
