If you are adjusting things in a part rather than the full score, you are likely breaking their link with the full score, in which case the items turn orange/yellow to let you know you have unlinked them.

There are commands to relink items in parts to the score, but that will reposition them in the part(s).

The unlinked items will still print in black.

Thanks for the reply. Yes wen I re-link it the item turns black but goes to a different position on the page.  How can I get the item to stay where I want it on the part and get it to a different colour like blue or green.  THe yellow is very hard to read on my screen.
