Finale 2014.5 on Win 10

Can I open Finale 2006 files in Finale 2014? If so, how, does it do that automatically or are there hoops to jump through? I know how to do XML, but this is a friend who wants to send me his entire archive of compositions in Finale 2006. I don't want to have to have him convert his whole library to XML before sending it to me.

Why not suggest your friend start by sending you one file in XML and one in native F 2006 format. That way you can run a test on each. In theory Finale 2014 (2014.5?) can open files from F 2006, but you may find some things need touching up afterwards.
