Finale 2014.5 in Mac OS 10.11.
.asvx backups vanish when I close the file I'm working on. Why? In previous versions, the .asv files would stay put in my backup folder. I'm very anal about saving while I work but occasionally the program crashes or I mistakenly close w/o saving and no backup is available. I have auto save set to backup every 3 min in preferences, which the programs does. Once I exit or close, poof, the .asvx file is a memory.  I've trashed the old preference file and started fresh but the disappearing act remains. Any thoughts?

Thanks much,

Dave

As I recall, that's normal. If your system should crash, you'd be able to find the .asvx file and resume with little lost.

Unfortunately, the only way I have to test this is to boot from my El Cap test drive, fire up 2011 and crash my Mac — not doing that. Sorry.

Thanks for the reply.

Maybe normal since 2014.5. I still use 2012 occasionally at the request of one of my clients and the .asv files stay in the backup folder (as with versions previously). My issue is I get lots of files from publishers that I copy into my templates and I'm constantly closing out of the originals w/o saving.  Once and a great while I forget which window is open and close the one I'm working on w/o save, hence my issue with not having an .asv file to save my butt.
