This is not, as best I can tell, a Finale Human Playback issue as it only occurs with GPO5 strings, not other string libraries (eg, the included Garritan strings for Finale). If I have a solo violin (the notated library) sustaining a tone over a measure, it seems as if the note gets bowed again in the second measure making it sound like a separate note (the same note, but rebowed) rather than sustained as in a tie. Any way to fix this? Thanks.

Yes, it's not HP that's the problem since the same score sounds fine using the older GIFF.

It is irritating. I partially solved it by googling some excellent feedback tutorial in one of the forums. Essentially, you have to set the proper Legato keyswitch so that finale plays back legato for the GPO5 strings. The older GIFF works well, GPO5 needs a lot of tweaks for the strings.  I believe the posts are by brian roland.

note that out of the box even the pizzicati didn't work on GPO5 strings. Took me hours and days to get it to a semblance of what was "realistic" legato playing. The winds and brass sections are much better than GIFF though. I think finale / garritan dropped the ball on integrating GPO5 strings with finale. If you're writing some traditional string sections, it may be worthwhile to just use GIFF samples instead of GPO5 for the strings. sigh____+++

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Thanks very much. Truth is, I was using GPO5 strings to improve upon the sounds I had gotten previously with the same work using GIFF. The GPO5 strings sound better, of course (otherwise why bother?) but the sustained notes were all messed up, so I'll try some of the solutions in Brian Roland's posts, which are appreciated.
