Unfortunately this age-old bug is still present in Finale v26. After explode of 4-part harmony, the rest positions are messed up and need manual fixing (* on numeric keypad).

You can reset them all in one go with the JW Change plugin. I know it shouldn't be necessary but it's certainly a lot easier and quicker than resetting each one manually.

Where would I find the JW Change plugin? I have Finale 25.5.0.259 with a 2011 MacBook Pro macOS Sierra 10.12.6.

Be sure to download the 64-bit version of the plug in. Remember, the plugin is free, but Jari does accept donations!

I looked in Finale Preferences/Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Makemusic/Finale/Plug-ins, and the JW plugins are already there in hidden files. Looking at an open document in Finale, I see JW Tools in in the Plugins dropdown box. When I hover over it, nothing opens. When I hover over "TG Tools", "Scoring and Arranging", "Note, Beam and Rest Editing" I see plug-ins. When I hover over JW Tools, there are no plug-ins.

How can I fix this?

Thanks for the help!

I use the built-in plugin for this sort of thing.

Plug-ins >> Note, Beam, and Rest Editing >> Move Rests... >> Select "Clear Manual Positioning"
