That is not typical.

I suggest you check you audio driver (MIDI/Audio > Device Setup > Audio Setup). When I first began using Finale 26, I found it kept resetting my audio driver to ASIO instead of leaving it set to DirectSound. I do not know if there is a comparable situation on Macs, but MM was able to give me instructions to make v26 default to DirectSound, which solved the problem.
