I was given a new MacBook Pro as a gift and when I upgraded to the Finale v26 it is not letting me use the program AT ALL! It keeps telling me to authorize it, which I try doing with my number, but then it crashes and just repeats everything that was asked before. It has me going in circles. When I try to use it WITHOUT authorizing it the same thing happens.

Can anyone out here help? I have asked all of my other Finale using friends and we have gotten nowhere.

Thank you in advance!

You should go to the FinaleMusic.com web site and your My Account to see if your authorizations have reached their limit. If so, you should be able to release one of them to see if that will allow you to authorize your new version on the Mac.

You might also want to use the "Submit a request" link at the top of the page to contact MakeMusic Support directly about this.

Click on Manage Authorizations in your MakeMusic account. If that doesn't do it, use the Submit a request link

Charlton,

Make sure that you are launching Finale v26. The symptom you describe sounds like a known compatibility issue of Finale 2014.5 on Mojave, which is most likely the macOS you are using if you have a new MacBook Pro. If this is not the case, definitely submit a case with us.

Thank you David!

Now...I am thinking that I have done everything correctly. I have downloaded the new product. when I go open it how do I make sure that the right version is being launched?

I can be a bit challenged with technology.

Have you installed it?

26 is different than earlier versions. You download the installer. Click on it to download and install Finale. Once done, you should see the icon in your Applications folder. If not, reboot.

I also found that, the first time I installed v25 on my Mac, the program installed properly, but the only Finale icon shown on my Desktop was the older version. I had to go to the applications manager to find the newer Finale version. I wonder if this has happened to you with v26.

Thank you all for your help. The "problem" has been solved. It was the fact that the old Finale was still in use. The new version was not coming through. When I closed the old version and then loaded the new one I saw it.

Thanks again!
