Hello,

I recently bought Vienna Special Edition Library, but I’m not able to play it back on Finale 2012.

After having installed Vienna Instruments and Vienna Esemble (both 32 and 64 bits) I copy-pasted vlib32.dll and vlib64.dll files to the folder C:\Users\[your user account name]\AppData\Roaming\MakeMusic\Finale 2012\VST Support, such as the all other .dll files from Vienna Instruments.

All .dll directories from Vienna show up on the VST Banks and Effects Manager, but when I click on activate the following message pop up: "The plugin failed validation. It will remain ignored."

Can anyone tell me how to fix it?

If no one with VSE expertise answers you here, you may want to use the "Submit a request" link at the top of this page to contact MakeMusic support directly, since they may be able to give you additional info about the error message you are receiving.

2012 is a 32 bit application. I'm going to hazard a guess: If the current versions VSL are 64 bit only, your issue is to be expected. In that case, it's time to upgrade to Finale 26.

I don't know if JBridge works with VSL and Finale but it's what Band-In-A-Box and other 32 bit apps are recommending to use 64 bit VSTs in 32 bit apps. It costs 14.99€. There may be a trial and the developer is good answering questions via email. I've had it for years and it does let my use Kontakt with BIAB. YMMV

VSL has a community forum, also. If there are other workarounds, that's where I would check.

VSL still provides 32bit versions; just make sure you use those and not the 64bit. If you re-run the VSL installation, you'll see where they're both being placed.

Once you have Vienna Player and Vienna Ensemble setup as VSTi in Finale, be sure to load the 64bit Vienna Ensemble server before opening Finale. You then be able to take advantage to the 64bit memory space of your computer.

Hello, Thanks for the recommendations!

I'm still stuck with the same issue. I will try to install Finalle 2012 again...

I have to additional questions:

1. Do you know if Human Playback preferences are need to insert Vienna on VST Banks and Effects Manager, or its only to playback articulations?

2. What is the extension of the VST to insert on the VST Banks and Effects Manager? (I've been triying to insert *.dll files)

Installing Fin2012 again will serve no purpose. Install the VSL software again, and take note of where the 32bit plugins are placed. You want to add that folder to the plugin directories list. Go to MIDI/Audio / Device Setup / Mamge VST Plugin Directories. Then Rescan VST plugins.

There are 2 applications that you'll install as part of the VSL setup: Vienna Player and Vienna Ensemble. They have both a stand alone version and a plugin version. The files you mention in your first post are part of the standalone version and are NOT the plugins you need. The rights ones are Vienna Instruments.dll and Vienna Ensemble.dll

HP Preferences are available from the VSL website under MyVSL. They're not need to load a place instruments.

Hello William,

That's great you really gave me the key. Once I added the Vienna Instruments.dll and Vienna Ensemble.dll files on the VST Banks & Effects Vienna Esemble opened automaticly.

I was desparate searching for days and couldn't find no answer...

Thanks a lot! You made my day.
