Hello,

I’ve recently started using Finale 2014 with VSL Vienna Special Edition. Library samplers are great, Eventhought I'm struggling with some dynamics issues right now.

I'm writting a sonata piece in F#minor starting with string section in Forte and very energy caracter with stacatos and Tremolos (Thema A). After a few staves comes Thema B in AMajor with very liryc character, performed by Woodwinds in Piano.

The problem is that the instruments don't seem to recognize dynamics properly. The Flute, for example, is playing with volume 89 on VSL in Piano. When I change it to Forte it's playing with 92 volume, so i cannot see much differences between dynamics.

Is it possible to assign a volume level for each dynamic, so the performance is realistic?

Let's say: pp: 35, p: 50, mp: 65, mf: 80, f: 95 and ff: 110

System: Windows 10

Software installed: Finale 2014, Vienna Instruments, Vienna Esemble, Vienna Library Special Edition Volume 1.

Normally dynamics are handled through Human Playback (HP), and a third-party sound library may require customized settings within HP.

Hi Adrian, and how can I set the HP? I tried differents opcions, but the playback is still random and the behavior is different depending on the instrument.

As I said I don't appreciate dynamic changes on the woodwinds. For flute and clarinet, for example, VSL volum goes up on the note attack and after 1 segond the volume goes down. while Oboe volum remains steady all time. All this things are making it very difficult to get a good balance and orchestral sound.

Can someone help me?

Guillem,

You need to go to the VSL forum and you'll find information there about using VSL libraries with Finale. They have Human Playback preferences setup to use with Finale.
