1. Presently I am using Finale on an older Mac running 10.12.6 [Sierra]
I am considering an upgrade to High Sierra.. Any known issues??
2. I am also considering upgrading to a new Mac. Will 2014.5 run in Mojave??
Thank you
On the old Mac, if already installed, 2014.5 should run about the same as Sierra — Human Playback and a few other things will make it crash. You shouldn’t notice much of a difference. Same goes for PrintMusic 2014.5. There is no support for this, of course.
Neither Finale nor PM 2014.5 will install onto a new Mac running High Sierra or Mojave. Period. Neither will they run if you use Migration Assistant to bring over from the old Mac. For me, both crashed during the Authorization process. Managing Authorizations was not the issue as I had cleared them earlier. I took one look at the crash logs and decided that a) life was too short and b) even if I was to spend the time, this wasn’t a problem I was likely to solve.
In case you missed the recent announcement:
MakeMusic is offering Finale on sale for a limited time, through May 20, 2019. New users of Finale can purchase it for $249, a significant savings off of the $600 regular price. However, if you already own a competing product, I recommend that you contact MakeMusic to obtain a quote for a competitive upgrade, which could be less expensive. MakeMusic has removed this option from their store, but the latest information is that it is still being offered by request.
For existing users on Finale v25 or earlier, the sale price for an upgrade to v26 is $99 (regular $149). Both sales items require the code FINALE261 at checkout.
