FINALE 24.5 WIN 10.

SOMETIMES, IN A SCORE PRESUMABLY TO SAVE SPACE THERE WILL BE NUMBER INSIDE A MEASURE.

FOR EXAMPLE WE WILL ASSUME THAT THE FIRST VIOLIN PLAYS THROUGH FROM MEASURE 1 TO MEASURE 20

IN THE NEXT MEASURE THERE IS THE NUMBER 5 WHICH I AM ASSUMING MEANS THAT OUR VIOLINIST WILL PICK UP ON MEASURE

26 I.E. 1,2,3,4,5, START BACK ON MEASURE 26!.

That’s called a multimeasure rest. The violin would play mm 1-20, and then, rather than having five empty measures, you would place a bar with a number above it, indicating how many measures of rest to count off, before coming back in.

Hello Mike, just to clear a point I was assuming that we were applying an arithmetical answer.say, for example our

violinist was starting his opening piece from measure one, which has a"5" he wouldn't actually start until measure 6.

Kind regards

Eric, just to be clear: Mike's solution was not intended to be a literal illustration of your situation.
