I've had a recurring problem that I hoped would be solved in v26, but if anything, it's worse.  I create an expression using the shape designer, and within that using the Graphics tool, enabling me to import an image (I'm using traditional Korean articulation and ornamentation signs).  I create the shape, size it appropriately, insert it all over my score.  And then when I "print" to pdf, all those insertions do something odd - that something varies.  Today, the two different shapes I'd created this way collapsed into one shape.  Closing the file makes no difference.  I finally gave up and "drew" the shape i needed with lines and circles, but it looks crappy.

Anyone have an explanation for the instability of shapes created using the graphics tool?  Or even better, a fix?

If you import the Korean figure into the shape designer and alter it, try exporting it as a graphic image. Then, place the image in the score with the graphic tool.

If I have misunderstood your workflow, I apologize, and ask for more detail!

if you like, send me the graphics at wawoodman at aol dot com, and I’ll play around.

Dear Mike - thanks much!  I've never used the graphics tool.  It seems to work like a dream.  Except - is there a meta tool function here?  I'm placing the same two "graphics" dozens of times, and it's laborious to "place graphic" and navigate to the images each time.  (I wish these could function within the expressions tool!)

Once you’ve saved it as the exported graphic, can you import that into the expression tool? I suspect that will keep your graphic from migrating. If it does, then, you can assign a metatool.

OK... it's saving "out" as an "exported graphic" that I don't get.  Right now, I'm placing the graphic directly with the Graphics tool, not via Expressions.  I don't see anything within either the Graphics tool or the Expressions tool called "export graphic."  But I'd love to learn, if I can then assign a meta tool!

Theo,

Send me the characters you want, and the source images. My email is in an earlier post. I’ll see what I can do.
