Re: drum mapping in Finale
I cannot get the assigned note to the high tom (on the 4th line) to sound with the corresponding MIDI key that has that note in EWQL Goliath. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Andrew
Hi Peter,
I am just using the score manager. I have edited the position of the drum kit on the stave so that the high tom is on the 4th line, the mid-tom is on the 3rd line; the low/floor tom is on the 2nd line; the snare is on the third space. I am not aware that I am using a percussion MIDI map.

You probably mean that you are using the Instrument List in the ScoreManager.

You are!
It is not possible to use a Percussion Layout without a Percussion MIDI Map.
You can customize the view of the Instrument List so that the Percussion MIDI Map is shown.
Unlike a Percussion Layout, a Percussion MIDI Map is not saved (and located) inside the Finale document.
Instead, all Percussion MIDI Maps are located in a special (program-)folder from where they are available in all your Finale documents (a little similar to fonts).
You can create your own, custom Percussion MIDI Maps.
If you send someone else a Finale document that uses a special, custom Percussion MIDI Map, then you must also send the Percussion MIDI Map along with the Finale document (a little similar to fonts).
