Hi. I am having a problem that is driving me up the wall.  I have a melody that I originally entered in 4/4 time, but later decided I wanted to play in all triplets.  When I enter the part in one staff, and then try to copy it to another, I get a really strange version of it. I have quite a bit of this to do in this piece, so I don't want to enter it all manually.  The enclosed screen capture shows what's happening. The top line is the part the way I want it and the bottom line is what happens when I copy and paste it. Is it because of the triplets? Does Finale just have a problem with copying triplets? I've never run into it before. Please ignore the strange dynamic markings such as mp- and the unorthodox articulations. I created those to get the piece to play back with more subtlety. This file is for playback rather than performance.

You are using Finale v26, right?

 

I tried to duplicate your issue in my own copy of Finale v26.

But for me the triplets copied correctly.

 

My only guess is that the triplets were somehow defined incorrectly, should be {3 Quarters in the space of 2 Quarters}.

Is the problem isolated to this particular Finale document?

Or does it happen in all documents?

Thank you for your response. You hit the nail on the head. I opened a brand new document from one of Finale's templates and entered the phrase from scratch. When I copied it to another staff the problem persisted. So I examined each of the triplets using the tuplet tool. The triplets that were three quarter notes were all three quarters in the space of two quarters, as they should be, as well as the half-quarter triplets. But the quarter-half triplets were actually three halves in the space of two halves. I had entered them in speedy entry, using control-3 to create the tuplet. So when I changed them to quarters in the space of quarters, they copied correctly. Thanks again for your suggestion.
