Dear Comrades in Finale,

First, specs: MacBook Pro 2016, Finale 26.1.0.484

I am working with 72-tet notation using Ted Mook's font (http://www.mindeartheart.org/MWFS.html). As I do not require playback, I am simply entering all the possible sharp symbols and all the possible flat symbols (10 each for a total of twenty). I have used the directions here: http://usermanuals.finalemusic.com/FinaleMac/Content/Finale/Key_signatures.htm#Quarter_tone_scales

But only 14 of the twenty accidentals will show up (7 on either side of natural). That is, I enter a note and use shift-+ or minus to get to my needed accidental and I can only access 7 transformations in either direction.

I then tried adjusting the key map as suggested here: https://www.finaleforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=1137&sid=dc21b3c46aaf30d42f336c71c2dee7c8#p1137

(Using 10 black boxes between each diatonic step) But that did nothing.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

cheers,

Andrea

This is a known limitation in Finale.

Since the limitation only affects very few users, I would not expect it to be fixed anytime soon.

In Other Words:

To get the missing accidentals, use a workaround.

Since I do not know the details in your workflow, I can not tell which workaround will suit you best.

But here are some ideas:

1) Enter the accidental as one of the accidentals that do show up.

Then, use Special Tools Tool, sub-tool Accidental Mover Tool, to replace the accidental character with another font character. Just double-click the accidental handle, to access the Accidental Settings (or select the accidental handle, and hit Return).

2) Enter the accidental as an articulation.

3) Enter the accidental as an expression.

Thanks, Peter. Well, I guess I'm glad it's not me! The other workaround I have used in the past was to enter the same note with a different accidental in the second layer so that I can have, say, F# up a 12th. I see I'll be going back to that workaround.
