I'm having problems with PrintMusic putting the barlines in the wrong place when I scan. And then I can't figure out how to move them. In one piece, there just seems to be a barline missing. It's in 4/4 time, and there's a bar with a whole note tied to dotted half with a quarter rest. No barline after the whole note.
In another piece the barline was half a bar out. When I try to move the bar line it just bunches up the notes.
I'm using PrintMusic 2014a v. 855 in Windows 7.
The problem is due to a missed element in the scan. With that “lite” version, that’s what you get. Odd groups of notes, strange hidden time signatures, and the like.
You don’t move the barlines, you move the notes. If it’s a pretty straightforward correction, you can select and drag sections. Otherwise, you will have to copy and paste groups of notes into the correct measures. It’s probably easiest to set up a new document, and work from one to the other. This sort of thing is why scanning music has a bad reputation.
If you plan to do much more of this, I strongly suggest you get a full featured scan program, like SmartScore. That way, you have the opportunity to edit the scan before sending it to Finale.
